Clean up Australia Day

It’s one of our favourite days of the year! Join us as we venture among the reeds and banks of Greendale Creek and Curl Curl Lagoon to get the litter out of our waterway before it reaches the beach. Come for as little or as long as you like – rain, hail or shine. The water dragons, birds and fish that call our lagoon home will love you for it too! Bring gloves, gumboots and old tongs. We'll provide everything else. We’ll be near the viewing deck behind the kids playground.
SUNDAY 2ND MARCH
PARK ST BRIDGE 8AM - 10AM
What’s Bushlink up to?

As part of a Northern Beaches Council Grant, Bushlink has started on weed control, litter collection and, most importantly, revegetation of Greendale Creek. The selected area is along Weldon oval, between the 2 bridges. The team have 8 visits over a year to improve the area. They have already weeded Madeira and Balloon Vine, raked and rolled up Trad along the banks and removed Bidens and Asthma weed along the way.
Recently they have planted 40 new plants along the bank. Have a little look when you next walk past and say hello!
So what is Bushlink? It’s an award winning initiative by Northside Enterprise Inc. to provide meaningful employment opportunities for people with disability through environmental projects & education. Each Bushlink team is led by a skilled team leader and comprises trained bush regenerators who learn valuable life skills and earn a wage while working outdoors in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Ngara’s growing
Ngara has grown into a wonderful oasis for relaxation and reflection in John Fisher Park. The area is full of native plants and trees providing shade for seating on large sandstone blocks and wooden benches. It is to the east of Weldon Oval and behind the Stirgess Ave playground.
Each Friday afternoon at 4pm locals gather to do some gentle gardening maintenance and catch up. It’s a great way to meet others from the area while doing something worthwhile. Please come along!

Community plantings afternoons
Two large planting events funded by NSW Government grants are planned for Curl Curl and we’d love the community to come and help! Thousands of these plants have been propagated from local species and grown by volunteers in our nurseries at Curl Curl and Manly dam.
Saturday 22 March 1-5pm Griffin Road (just south of the bridge).
Saturday 26 April 1-5pm Dune Bay 2 Curl Curl Beach.
Things to bring: Hat, sunglasses, gloves, long pants, and water to drink.
Volunteer opportunities

We can’t take Curl Curl Lagoon for granted!
Do you know that if it wasn’t for the Lagoon friends the lagoon might have been piped under the ground years ago? And at one stage there were plans for a stadium?
There are ongoing threats to its natural beauty today . . . and still more room for improvement. But your membership will help support the work.
Join a growing community of people who care for the local area today.
