Floating wetlands pilot project concludes

Updated: May 18, 2022

The first results from a seven month trial of growing endemic wetland plants in our controlled environment facility near the Lagoon are in, and they are good enough to move us to the next step of installing a trial mini wetland platform in the duck pond at Greendale Creek. While this achievement marks the end of the pilot project, further work to prove the floating wetlands concept in the Creek and Lagoon will continue as resources and funds permit.

You can read and see the full story on our website - just look for 'Floating Wetlands' under 'Projects'.

Project activities were led by Northern Beaches Council's Coasts & Catchments team. The project proceeded with the assistance of a $20,000 grant from the Communities Environment Program run by the Commonwealth Dept of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources and was recommended for adoption by Ms Zali Steggall OAM, MP for Warringah.
